Vorta - The Alluring Clones Of The Dominion

Send in the clones!  On Deep Space Nine we met the enigmatic Founders - a gelatinous race which could morph into most anything imaginable.  The Founders employed a seductive subordinate race of solid beings called the Vorta. These aliens kept the aggressive Jem'Hadar, the grunt soldiers, on a short leash and served their morphing masters as the middle managers of The Dominion.  Although not physically strong nor impressive in terms of physiology, the Vorta are the ultimate negotiator.  In their dealings with the Federation and Starfleet, they could be more than effective in making diplomatic deals.  Is it their charm?  Maybe it's those deep, blue eyes which seduce from afar, or perhaps it's those soothing, lilting voices.  Whichever the case, the Vorta command a quiet kind of Star Trek sex vibe indeed.

With the Vorta, there are many mysteries on their culture and origin, and even the concept of their own death is questionable or variable.  There is no fixed death, nor real permanency of dying for these alien caretakers from the dread Dominion.  Once they die, a clone can be created and the Vorta in question can be back operating in the field in no time flat.  Talk about a great healthcare plan!  Live long and prosper, indeed!

Star Trek Sexy Spotlight - Gillian Taylor - Catherine Hicks

Captain, there be whales here!  So said the excited Scotty (James Doohan) in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, after the huge humpback whales were beamed aboard the 'borrowed' Klingon Bird Of Prey.  The whales, named George and Gracie after the great comedy team of George Burns and Gracie Allen, were the key to telling a future probe, which was devastating Earth, what it could 'go do with itself' - according to that gentle physician, Dr. McCoy.  The woman who had looked after these important ocean dwellers was Dr. Gillian Taylor - played by actress Catherine Hicks.  She's perhaps best known as the mom from Child's Play - the first Chucky movie.

Gillian was romanced - or more accurately courted - by Captain Kirk (William Shatner), so he could get his hands on her whales - literally.  The two had great chemistry, and later in a few Star Trek comic books, the two even became a couple - at least for a short time.  

What may be most interesting to die hard Trekkers is the breaking - or at least bending - of the Temporal Prime Directive here.  Unlike so many time travel adventures in Gene Roddenberry's universe, the crew of Enterprise take Dr. Taylor back with them into the future.  The logic:  Since Earth's future marine biologists are unfamiliar with real live humpback whales, Gillian will be indispensable in caring for them.

Star Trek Sexy Spotlight - Janice Manheim - Michelle Phillips

Captain Picard may not have been as sexually busy as his Starfleet predecessor, Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), but he still did have his share of the lovely ladies.  One of the most beautiful, classiest and pop culture ready of Picard's beauties was Janice Manheim - played by Michelle Phillips of the pop group, The Mamas And The Papas fame.

In the first season episode, "We'll Always Have Paris", Picard reunites with his long lost love - now the wife of scientist, Paul Manheim.  Though the two ex lovers try to recapture the magic of the old days, by recreating the romance of Paris, France in the holodeck, things don't work out exactly as planned.  Still, it's one of the earliest examples of how the Starship Enterprise's holodeck could serve as a place to accurately rekindle the romance of the past.

Star Trek Sexy StarShips - The Delta Flyer From Voyager

Sexy is as sexy does.  In this case, sexy is as sexy flies - or warps.  Lt. Tom Paris loves piloting starships, and he loves tinkering in his spare time.  It was no wonder that he'd come up with the Delta Flyer.  The ship is sort of a shuttle craft on steroids.  During Voyager's long time in the Delta Quadrant, the Delta Flyer was created to answer a need for greater security and flexibility in the Starfleet vessel's trip back home to the Alpha Quadrant.  I wonder if Geordi LaForge was jealous?

Star Trek Sexy Spotlight - T'Pring - Arelne Martel - Amok Time

Can a Vulcan be a bitch?  It all depends on your definition - of both, that is.  The sly, manipulating Vulcan beauty called T'Pring definitely demonstrates what many would call major bitchiness.  Of course to her - and students of Vulcan logic - her actions in the episode, Amok Time, are supremely logical.  Played by actress Arlene Martel, T'Pring impresses us with her beauty and strategic mind.  Also, as the first Vulcan female to be seen on the original series, T'Pring becomes a kind of standard bearer for the gender - thankfully, though, her actions aren't a model for future Vulcan women like T'Pol of Enterprise.

After an ailing Spock must be taken to his home world by Kirk's Enterprise, T'Pring unveils a seamlessly logical trap for Spock.  Fight your Captain to the death - either kill or be killed.  Knowing whatever the outcome - whomever wins - means she'll still be basically alone on Vulcan to carry on with her lover Stonn, makes T'Pring one sexy Star Trek gal indeed - and yes, even a real bitch. 

The Women Of Star Trek

Recently, NBC broadcast a prime-time special - The Women of SNL.  It was a rebroadcast from 2010 - an hour long retrospective featuring female comic performers who've made Saturday Night Live must see TV.  Star Trek also has an NBC connection.  It premiered on the National Broadcasting Company back in 1966.  How about a special called - The Women Of Star Trek?

Star Trek Sexy Spotlight: Janice Rand - Grace Lee Whitney

Janice Rand, played by actress Grace Lee Whitney, served aboard Captain James T. Kirk's Enterprise - NCC-1701.  She coordinated the Captain's hectic schedule, brought him his cosmic themed reports and made sure he'd always get his stimulating coffee.  Because of internal, behind the scenes TV show or network politics, Whitney's contract wasn't renewed.  Rand was never seen again until her reappearance in the feature film, Star Trek: The Motion Picture in 1979.

Rand is an accomplished artist and her work could be seen adorning her quarters on the Starship.

Rotten Tomatoes & The Star Trek Feature Films

Rotten Tomatoes rates the movies and Star Trek boasts many a theatrical entry.  With 12 feature films under its franchise belt, the somewhat obscure NBC TV show created by Gene Roddenberry and produced by Lucille Ball's Desilu back in 1966 is still flourishing today.  From the high of 2009's Star Trek from director J.J. Abrams, to the low rated Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, directed by William Shatner, the treks of Trek get rated.

Star Trek Sexy Spotlight - Seven of Nine - Jeri Ryan

Seven of Nine is Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01.  Well, at least she used to be.  When Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and her Voyager starship crew encountered the Borg in the Delta Quadrant, 7of9 was employed as a kind of go between to the Starfleet crew to help defeat Species 8472.  Actress Jeri Ryan (Boston Public) then joined the UPN TV show as a regular cast member.

Seven joined the starship on its journey to the Alpha Quadrant - using her enhanced capabilities and wide reaching knowledge she shared while part of the vast Borg collective. Before being just a number, Seven was a little human girl named Annika Hansen.  Her parents, intrepid scientists and explorers, brought her along on a study mission of the rampaging cybernetic race.  This led to her assimilation as a Borg drone.

Though her guarded and outright standoffish behavior made her alienate some, she eventually became an indispensable member of the Voyager crew, and made friends with many, including; Neelix, Naomi Wildman, Doc (Robert Picardo) and even engaged in romantic relations with first officer Chakotay - Robert Beltran.  Seven and Janeway clashed often, but in the end, the conflicts usually led to practical solutions to the struggles the crew faced while warping home to Earth.

Star Trek Sexy Spotlight - Dr. Beverly Crusher - Gates McFadden

Captain Jean-Luc Picard's Enterprise 1701-D was the flagship Starfleet starship of his time.  During his tenure as Enterprise Captain, Picard utilized the most advanced technology and had the most competent officers at his disposal.  Picard's decision was final - as Dr. Beverly Crusher emphatically reminded guest Lily Sloan (Alfre Woodard) as they battled the dread Borg in the feature film, Star Trek: First Contact.  But above all the others under his command, only the ginger haired Chief Medical Officer could actually question Picard's competence.

Beverly Crusher's intense sexual attraction to Jean-Luc Picard was explored throughout the show, and the Starship commander was just one of the attractive physician's many romantic suitors.  Being a mother to Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton) was a herculean task in and of itself, yet the 'dancing doctor' - Gates is a real life accomplished dancer - never faltered in both her professional or personal duties.

Star Trek Sexy Spotlight - Klingon Female

Klingons don't fool around when it comes to fooling around.  The proud warriors of the galaxy - first seen in Gene Roddenberry's 1966 Star Trek - definitely know how to play fiercely in the bedroom.  Simply put:  Klingon females seem far more liberated when it comes to sexuality than most other humanoids.  On Star Trek: The Next Generation, this sex speculation was clearly illustrated.

 

Michael Dorn played Klingon Worf.  On the episode, Hide And Q, Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes) imbued with the godly power of Q (John DeLancie) gifted Worf with a lusty Klingon female.  Riker gave his friend a horny mate.  Worf seemed torn - even upset - but it's a clear bet to any that if Riker had gifted him the gal in private, he'd have let off some Klingon steam.

Star Trek Sexy Spotlight: Duras Sisters - Lursa & B'Etor - Gwynyth Walsh & Barbara March

Klingon sex can be a rough ride.  Take those two gals who were known collectively as the Duras sisters - Lursa (Gwynyth Walsh) and B'Etor (Barbara March).  First seen in the Next Generation episode, Redemption, these bold as brass gals left a lasting impression on fans - if not lasting a terribly long tenure in Gene Roddenberry's universe.

Lursa and B'Etor graduated to co-starring in, Star Trek: Generations (1994), the first feature film showcasing Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his brave Starfleet crew.  Directed by David Carson and written by Rick Berman, Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore, the Duras sisters enlisted the assistance of Soran (Malcom McDowall) to obtain a trilithium energy weapon to conquer the very Klingon empire itself.  When Soran orders the scheming siblings to destroy the Enterprise 1701-D, Lursa shouts - 'That is a Galaxy class Starship!  We are no match for them!' Dearest Lursa was definitely on to something, indeed.

Star Trek Sexy Spotlight - The Borg Queen (Voyager) - Susanna Thompson

The Borg Queen (Alice Krige) ruled over her drones in Star Trek: First Contact, the 2nd feature film to showcase the Next Generation cast, including:  Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Marina Sirtis, Levar Burton, Michael Dorn and Gates McFadden.  However, for the UPN TV show, Star Trek: Voyager, actress Susanna Thompson filled the considerably powerful latex suit vacated by Krige.

Before her stint as the Borg monarch, Thompson portrayed two characters on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and can also be seen in the Deep Space Nine episode, Rejoined - opposite Terry Farrell who played Dax, the Trill.  Thompson has had a wide ranging, high profile career in TV and has appeared on shows such as The X-Files, CSI and NYPD Blue.
