Star Trek Sexy Spotlight: Lt. Uhura - Nichelle Nichols & Zoe Saldana

Abrams' reboot - an adult and mature sexuality has always been part of the universe.  One of the most classy, sophisticated and sexy characters is Lt. Uhura.  Brought to life by the actress Nichelle Nichols and now played by Zoe Saldana in the feature film reboots, Uhura opened hailing frequencies as communications officer of Starship Enterprise, but always retained her considerable feminine charms.


Uhura remains a landmark Hollywood character in so many ways.  No only was she an important part of the Enterprise crew, she's heralded as one of the first black TV characters to be an important part of the ensemble of a major television show.  Even so, the iconic role and the journey getting there was not without a share of struggle.  For a time, Nichols seriously considered quitting the show.  She felt there was a lack of meaningful screen time for Uhura and that her character should have been more center stage.  Why didn't she quit the program?  None other than Martin Luther King Jr. talked her out of leaving the series.
